Representative Bobby Rush, from the home state of Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln, wants to implement gun control. He thinks people should be disarmed. The Second Amendment be hanged--Rush has no use for it.
He has introduced into the U.S. House H.R. 45. It has been called a "dream bill" for anti-gun politicians and I don't doubt this is an accurate assessment. The bill calls for the licensing of firearms owners, the creating of a national database of firearms and their owners also. It will prevent anyone from selling any firearm without government being involved in the transaction (except for criminals of course). Somehow they always seem to escape all these thorny regulations that government imposes on honest people. This bill also requires that all firearms in your home be locked up at all times. I can just imagine a burgler somewhere trying to break in while the homeowner asks him to please wait until he can unlock his handgun and load it so he can defend his home. The bill also allows the government to subject gun owners to phychological evaluation. After all, there must be something potentially wrong with all those rednecks that cling to their Bibles and their guns, so government must have some justification for removing these impediments to the glories of multiculturalism. First to go will be the guns--the Bibles will follow--unless they happen to be one of the new "progressive" versions.
It's interesting that Illinois politicians seem to be really into this gun control thing. Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago has also been a leading advocate of taking people's firearms away from them for years now. He'd love to see the entire country disarmed, and would if he had his way. So would Obama and Bobby Rush (again, except for the criminals). Somehow it never occurs to these gun-grabbers that the people they need to be concerned with are the criminals not the honest folks. But that doesn't seem to bother them. Their main agenda is to remove guns from honest citizens and, frankly, I don't think they give a rip if the crooks have them or not as long as honest folks don't. The man that said "Fear the government that fears your guns" really had a point. Someone else also said "Gun control is really people control." He had a point, too.
Seeing that the honourable Mr. Rush is so hot for gun control, it might be worth checking into his history to see just where he's coming from. You don't have to look too hard to find out. It turns out the Mr. Rush is a member of the Congressinal Black Caucus (no racism there unless it was a white caucus). He is also a former member and founder of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party. I remember, several years ago now, I read an article in a New England newspaper where one of the Black Panthers admitted that his party had a Marxist viewpoint. You don't suppose that applies to Mr. Rush do you?
Back in 1968, when he co-founded the Illinois Black Panther Party, Rush was AWOL from the U.S. Army, though he ended up with an honourable discharge. However, the year 1969 found Rush serving six months in prison for, guess what, illegal possession of firearms! Now ain't that a kick? The man who wants to take away your guns apparently had no problem having his own illegally while in Illinois. Do I detect a slight bit of hypocrisy here?
So far, Rush's anti-gun bill has no co-sponsors and has been referred to the judiciary committee. It might not hurt to find out who exactly is on that committee and let them know you are not in favour of any piece of legislation that will circumvent or remove your Second Amendment rights. Once your firearms are gone the government and the criminals can do whatever they want to us and who can resist them? And, in the final analysis--regarding the government and the criminals--is their really much difference???
