As the time approaches for the inauguration of Barack Obama (or whatever his name is), we are treated to more and more comparisons being made between him and Abraham Lincoln.

I recently read the comments of a Col. Jeremy Marlon Martin, who serves at the Pentagon, in the office of assistant secretary of defense. Col. Martin, from his photo, looks like a black man. I want to state, at the outset, that, although I disagree with many of his conclusions, I am in no way casting any aspersions on his honesty or integrity. But he and I do have divergent views, and after years of historical research, I cannnot see things the way Col. Martin sees them.

Col. Martin states: "Obama's election draws parallels with other American presidents who led the nation through challenging times and campaigned as agents for change. President Abraham Lincoln understood the strategic objectives of the Civil War that marked his time, as well as the importance of addressing the domestic issues beyond the fighting that divided the nation." Interesting statement. Notice his use of the words "agents for change." This is a term that, in our day, has been accurately applied to many in the One World government crowd who do, indeed, seek to change our culture and to change how we view our history and heritage. Many of them work subtly at this through the government school system (brainwashing).

Martin comments about Lincoln's "addressing the domestic issues" that went beyong the fighting. I can only presume here that he is talking about the slavery issue--something that Americans have been fixated on for generations now, again, thanks to their government school "educations." The fact that the slavery issue really had little to do with the reasons for the war bothers no one. And, as far as the slavery issue, Lincoln was quite lukewarm about it until he got to a position where he felt the issue could help him to win the war. Lincoln, at one point, stated that his main object in the war was to preserve the Union, and if he could do that by freeing half the slaves he would do it or if he could do it without freeing any of the slaves he would do it. Donnie Kennedy, in his book Myths of American Slavery has noted that: "Lincoln as the archenemy of slavery, promoter of equality, and friend of the oppressed African-Americans is one of the most pervasive myths in modern America. Rather than being in the forefront of the advocacy of social equality for all races, Lincoln was among those who openly opposed such action." And Mr. Kennedy continues: "Not only did Lincoln hold to the belief of Negro inferiority, he was also a proponent of removing the African-American population from America once they were freed."  You can learn about Mr. Lincoln's racial views by reading the Lincoln Douglas debates, in which he openly stated more than once that he felt that the white race should have the superior position in this country. Most of those who have naively embraced Mr. Lincoln have no real concept of his true views. They have bought the legend of Mr. Lincoln the "great emancipator" and they have never bothered to look any further than the myth.

I doubt if Col. Martin truly understands where Lincoln was coming from. He continues in his article: "President-elect Obama...announced his candidacy for president on Feb. 10, 2007, shortly before the 198th birthday of Abraham Lincoln, America's 16th president and arguably its most revered politician. Lincoln is widely regarded as our nation's greatest president,  a courageous leader who ushered in what is widely considered the most dramatic period of change in American history." I guess, if you were uninformed you could look at it that way. Lincoln presided over the destruction of the constitutional republic the founders gave us and replaced it with a collectivist, socialist democracy that, in one weird form or another, has endured to our day. Due again to our government school "educations" this is a fact we have yet to begin to come to grips with.  If you doubt what I am saying here, I would exhort you to get a copy of the book Donnie Kennedy and I co-authored Red Republicans and Lincoln's Marxists and find out for yourself. You can check the title out on the Internet and find out places to purchase it. Lincoln was a socialist revolutionary. Are those who compare him to Obama telling us something about Obama?  Once again, in his article, Col. Martin uses the term "agent for change," this time in regard to Obama.

In interpreting Col. Martin's comments (which even he may not realize the importance of) are we now looking at the possibility of yet another cultural shift to the left in this country? I didn't think we could go much further to the left, but maybe I'm wrong. Our one-time Christian culture has been under constant assault for decades now, while most of the church sleeps unknowingly. Are we being primed for yet another major attack on it?  Will Obama seek to push us even further left as Lincoln did? many, if not most, even in Christian circles, do not realize what Lincoln really was, or what Obama really is. The fact that these two would-be secular "messiahs" are linked so constantly by the media does not portend future good for this country, regardless of what the duped American public, Christian and otherwise, has been conned into believing.
