On April 28, 2012 I attended the Republican Caucus in Monroe, Louisiana. There were caucuses that day all over the 5th congressional district here in Louisiana and I was a poll watcher at the one I attended for Ron Paul.
I was surprised at the voter turnout, considering that there had been just about no mention of this event in the local "news" paper. I guess most folks were not supposed to be aware of this event and were to labor under the misapprehension that the popularity contest here a few weeks ago was what chose Republican candidates places in the presidential primary.
Actually what decides how many delegates will go to each candidate is voted on in these caucuses. So this is where the real game is at, not in the beauty contests we call primaries in each state.
Right around 400 people voted at this caucus in Monroe and even with our silent "news" media seeking, by their silence, to make this a non-event, Ron Paul delegates got 70% of the 400 votes. In nearby Ruston it was the same story. Ron Paul delegates got something like 73% of the votes and in nearby Winnsboro the Ron Paul people racked up 100% of the votes. You read that right--100% of the votes. It looks like, at this point, that Ron Paul will have well over half the delegates for the state of Louisiana when the convention starts in Tampa.
I talked to folks who watched the ten o'clock news on television last evening,in vain, hoping to get some news about the Ron Paul victory in the caucus. For some strange reason, nothing seemed to make it to the ten o'clock news, and I was informed that nothing appeared in today's Monroe newspaper. I have no doubt whatever that had Romney won 51% of the delegates here it would have been all over the front page, but seeing that Ron Paul won a mere 70% it was not considered newsworthy. All the better to lead the public into voting for Romney as the only alternative to our current Marxist-in-Chief if they don't know that Ron Paul is the real opposition and Romney is just another RINO.
Such is the state of the "news" media in this area and from what I can see it's not much different in most parts of the country. The one honest candidate in this election is being almost totally ignored by our "news" (what a laugh) media while the establishment playboys who will change nothing if elected are given prime time.
Is anyone really surprised??? Awhile back I did a short article called "The land of the free is a thing of the past." "News" coverage such as we are now getting proves my contention in that article. Welcome to post-America.
