It should come as no surprise that the Republican Party (the supposed party of small government) should be afraid of a Ron Paul victory in the Iowa caucuses, or of any Ron Paul victory anywhere. The Republican Party, is after all, the party of Lincoln and whether they admit it or not, they will follow his big government policies all the while claiming they are for limited government. The media's treatment of Ron Paul has been pathetic. I won't dignify them by calling them the news media because real news is not what they are about. But the media most places, like many of the candidates, is bought and paid for so don't expect objectivity from them. Like the public schools, they are in the propaganda business, not the news business. I recently wrote a letter to the editor of one of the papers in my area dealing with how afraid of Ron Paul the Republican establishment really is. The editorial page editor called, wanting to know if I had sent the letter and my wife let him know that I had. I checked a few days later and my letter, somewhat changed, had appeared on the paper's web site. The change they made was not that big a deal. However, in checking the newspaper for that day I found that my letter had not quite made the editorial page in the opinion section. Possibly an oversight. Also possible that someone at the paper realized that the letter on the editorial page might reach lots of folks who would not bother to check out the paper's web site, and so it got posted on the web site where it would reach a limited number of people and left off the editorial page where it would have reached more. More and more, in regard to Ron Paul, we see this type of thing, all over the country. The establishment in both parties (they are really one big party with two different wings) is afraid to let the American public know where Ron Paul stands on issues because they are afraid the people will respond to his stands and that's the last thing they want. Keep the public in the dark so they won't know how to vote intelligently and will end up picking one of the paid-for stooges. It all only proves what I said in my last entry here. The land of the free is a thing of the past.
