In spite of the best efforts of the government brain laundries we call public schools, to brainwash people, some few do manage to get through them without having bought all the fertilizer they peddle.

I recently talked to a man here in Louisiana, who, although he readily admits he doestn't know much about his history, does recognize that the schools didn't teach him what he needed to know. He realized he was shortchanged when it came to the facts of his history and heritage. He realizes he didn't get the truth about the War of Northern Aggression or about the political scene in this country as it really is, and he is somewhat frustrated that he was lied to. I wonder how many more there are out there like him. They know they have been told historical falsehoods, they know they have not been given the information they need to form rational political decisions today, and they are somewhat ticked off because of this. This man is probably in his early fifties, so he's no kid, but he realizes he was educationally stiffed and it bothers him.

We talked quite awhile and I told him I would bring him some material to read that would help to give him a little historical perspective. He seemed interested in reading it. Another thing that bothered him was the amount of apathy he sees out there. He noted that folks today, as long as they have their bass boat and can go fishing on Saturday morning or can hunt during hunting season, don't seem to care about much else. He noted how the use of language has conditioned people to accept as normal things they would clearly have labeled as sin several years ago. I had to agree with him. How often today to we hear people refer to adultery or fornication as "an affair"? Too often! We don't call it what it really is anymore--sin! It's almost as if we are afraid of offending the sinner. But then, that seems to be part of the real motive of the politically correct crowd0--not calling a spade a spade--but shielding people from the real truth. They often seem to do what Isaiah the prophet talked about in the Bible. They call evil good and good evil. That's what political correctness really turns out to be--denigrating what is truly good and trying to morally uplife what is evil. Those folks won't like me for saying that, but that is about what political correctness amounts to.

And where are our churches in all of this? Sadly, most of them have bought the old satanic line that you don't really confront anyone with anything anymore, that all you should do as Christians is to just "be nice to everybody."

So, at any rate, I plan to give this man a batch of stuff to read and I hope he will begin to see specifically some of those things he was lied to about and it will make him angry enough to want to do something about it--like passing this information along to his children so they can use it with their children.

As Christians we seen to have lost sight of the fact that much of our work is multi-generational--that we should be apprehending truth in all areas of life and passing that on to our kids. So many today are anxiously sitting around waiting for the "rapture" that they have forgotten to pass along any truth to their children. Suppose the "rapture" doesn't come quite as early as some of them would like it to? What then? Part of our mission field as Christians is to teach our children so that they can, in turn, teach their children. That's a biblical precept that seems to have gone by the boards today.

Christians, along with everyone else, need to begin to relearn their history and in this country they need to begin to relearn their country's history. If our vision of our past is faulty then our vision for the future will also be faulty because we will not know where we came from.

So, for all those folks out there who have begun to have some idea that they were educationally stiffed (and that was by design) then I say take the trouble to go back and learn your correct history. For any who are interested I will be glad to provide a list of books you can read, especially dealing with the period of the War of Northern Aggression, that you can read. Most are still available. If we don't understand this most critical period of our history then we will never truly grasp all that has gone on since, including what is happening in our own day.
