I am sick of all of this talk of bipartisanship because it is phony and does not contribute anything to problem solving.
Let's face it. Politics is power. You have it or you don't. But those in the minority have enormous power and also have the responsibility to exercise that power intelligently in the national interest.
I suggest that we pick up the British concept of the "loyal opposition" which has really been the guiding principle of the Republican opposition to much of the current Stimuli packages. In my opinion the Republicans were not trying to scuttle the President's proposals. They just philosophically disagreed. If one is fair in analyzing the end result, this "opposition" resulted in a better final package even though the Republicans were being pilloried for it.
That's all. Just think of the battle as being between a good "loyal Opposition" and the "Ins", not as an attempt to prevent a solution.

February 23, 2009.
It has been some time since I first commented on the Fair Tax Plan(FTP), but recent events demand that I come back to it.
Unless your are deaf or dead the recent news has all been on the various stimuli packages and all in one way or other come around to manipulating the Federal Income Tax.
If we had the Fair Tax Plan all that the Congress would have to do to INSTANTLY stimulate the economy would be to lower, permanently or temporarily, the rate. The original discussion talked about a 23% rate, This could be cut in one day to 15% or !0% or ZERO.
Are you ready to reconsider?
