I was reading in the newspaper today about the supposed cultural impact of the communication gap i.e. the absence of a historical perspective on the part of the younger generation.  The writers and researchers were decrying the frequent inability to communicate with the young because they did not bring to the conversation sufficient knowledge of historically important events in order to have a proper exchange.

While it has happened to me in a number of social occasions, my reaction to the complaint is RUBBISH.  This just another put down of the young and to a degree of our educational system.

Get over it people.

It has been going on forever.  Things are coming fast and furious to today's students and teachers.  Would you rather have the children taught about "I Love Lucy" or do you want them taught about computers so that they are well grounded for the already emerging electronic technology typified by IPod and test messaging?

I'll take care of "educating" people in my circle about Joe Mc Carthy; The Black Sox Scandal and Amos and Andy
