As you listen to the campaign rhetoric of both major party candidates and their proposals of what they are going to do for us (with our money) remember the National Debt. It is so staggering that to quote the figure is a waste of time because the total means nothing with so many unfunded programs and entitlements. Some of these are so huge that the politicians can't even agree on the total potential liability.
So, as you listen, do not believe.
We, as a country, will not spend ourselves into prosperity. We have become accustomed to living high on the hog. Anything less seems totally unacceptable. Surprise!!, it is acceptable and doable. It just requires courage and fortitude.
Run away from their promises of a better life in the short run. We have to take some hard hits now and get back to some semblance of financial sanity.
And in all of the talk do not forget that inflation is another form of taxation which takes money out of your pocket and never has to be voted on in the Congress.
As you listen, listen for less government, no new programs and cutting the budget.
PS All of the above applies to whichever State you may live in as well.
