DISCLAIMER.  I worked for RCA for ten years(the then parent company of NBC) and have a love/hate attitude for them both.  However, I believe that what follows is an independent evaluation in spite of this relationship.

NBC treated the death of Tim Russert in the same overblown fashion that they treated the death of Princess Diana and will again in their coverage of the 2008 Olympics. They just don't know when to stop.

When a network has its eye on ratings, anything goes. Apparently even the death of valued employee.

I thought Olberman was going to propose sainthood.  The gushing over the performance of Tim's son Luke was equally outrageous.

In this country every day some family member makes some very timely and kind remarks at the funeral of a loved one.  In its own way these remarks would be just as eloquent as those given by Luke R. (Luke (tearless) even showed up on the Today Show on Monday morning after the death of his Father on late Friday afternoon.  NBC couldn't miss another rating possibility.

Just for the record, Luke R graduated from the premier private school in Washington, DC (St. Albans) and recently graduated from Boston College,  One should not gush over a 22 year old whose both parents were journalists if he can write a paragraph or two.

On this one, as with a couple of other edgy messages, I remind you that the title of the Blog is: As I See It.
