This is not a contest.  There are no prizes to be awarded.  It is just a request from me  to catalog the worst lies in Presidential history.  I am not talking stupidity, but really big lies (or actions which run counter to their statements) on important and substantive issues with either a short or long term impact.

This might require that you scramble to your history books.  Please try to set aside your current political affiliation/inclination.

If you wish to contribute, you may do so by using the comments section at the end of this message.  You may, if you wish agree or disagree with someone else's nomination.

There are no ground rules.  I hope that you go beyond just the recent occupants or the really "big" names.  In order to keep this orderly only those actually elected qualify.

To start it off, I nominate Thomas Jefferson for two offenses.  The first is his statements on "equality" versus his supporting and benefitting from slavery.  The second is his denials on his relations with Sally Hennings, but the continuation of that relationship and the begetting of offspring without regard of the consequences on her or them.

There you have it.  I welcome your inputs
