Every Bike season we  see parents head out to the driveway to teach kids how to ride a bike. Most often the teaching involves the parent pushing the child as fast as they can and hoping  the child will learn to pedal and balance at the same time. Kinda’ Scary!

And you’ll see the parents who may not be in the best of shape bending down during the whole process.

Some time age, maybe a year or two , we came upon a system for teaching kids how to ride a bike that is pretty innovative and a back saver at the same time.  Feedback has been really good, so I guess the kids learn, and mom and dad save their backs.

The backsaving method is in two parts.

Part One – Use an adjustable wrench and remove the pedals from the kids bike. Then, lower the seat sot the child’s feet rest flat on the ground, giving them a comfortable feeling. Then have the child push off with their feet, learning how to balance and how to stop the bike.

Part Two – Replace the pedals and cheer from the sidelines as your child masters putting this all together with pedaling the bike.

You can add Part Three if you like. Take them out for some ice cream. (Beat putting on an icepack),
