Sometimes we need some extra energy just to get motivated.  Did you ever consider “Pineapple Power”?   I have learned that along with being sweet and delicious, fresh pineapple offers up an array of health benefits, like being a digestive aid and a natural anti-inflammatory. They are rich in brome lain, protein –digesting enzymes that not only aid digestion but also can effectively reduce inflammation and swelling, as well as speed recovery from injuries. In addition the “powerful pineapple” is loaded with important vitamins like C, B, and B6.

Here is another interesting tidbit.  You might be interested as well, if you like milk chocolate M&M’s. They have about 4 calories per piece. So, if I ride 2 miles I can eat 19 pieces’ ride 5 miles, eat 47 pieces; and ride 10 miles, eat 95 pieces.  (Based on burning 408 calories per hour riding 10 mph.)

And then there is Peanut Butter.  I recently read that if I eat 4 to 6 tablespoons of peanut butter every day, I can lose weight and not be hungry?  Yeah, yeah, peanut butter is loaded with calories. But it is also packed with monounsaturated fats, which according to some Health Experts is the “original death-defying potion. They contend that being on this Peanut Butter diet reduces the risk of heart disease AND you’ll lose weight.

This discussion on Peanut Butter can’t stop with just one paragraph. Researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital concluded that people who consumed foods that were high in monounsaturated fats, including olive oil, avocados, and peanut butter, were more likely to lose weight and keep it off than people following a more regimented, lower fat diet. These amazing claims were backed up by researchers at Purdue University.

What do you eat on the Peanut Butter Diet? Men’s Health Magazine offered the following menu:

Breakfast:  Peanut Butter and Banana Shake (1 cop of fat-free milk, 1 medium banana and 2 tbsp. peanut butter liquefied in a blender)

Lunch: Peanut Butter and jelly sandwich, and an apple

Dinner:  It’s peanut butter free!  But be sensible and enjoy a skinless chicken breast, chopped nuts, an avocado, and a salad for example.

I don’t know about you, but I Love the Peanut butter part, but not the DIET.

Anyhow, it won’t be long until we are spending more time on our bikes, and thinking less about food anyway.
