Along with many other bike enthusiasts, I am very excited about a new publication called “Where to Bike”. This is a fantastic guide to exploring the many inviting bike trails/routes that the Chicago region has to offer. It is written by Greg Borzo.
Greg Borzo has been biking all his life and is always excited to share his enthusiasm, knowledge and experience with others. Born on the Northwest Side of Chicago, he has lived most of his life in Chicago and is active in many of the city’s cultural and biking circles.
His new book is a great resource if you are a recreational rider, a commuter or a dedicated year round cyclist. IN it you will find ideas, tools, maps and ride descriptions that will assist you in finding new adventures. Some if the really neat stuff in this book includes accurate GPS maps, clear and concise ride logs, family friendly rides, and some Chicago bike history. It is in an easy to use spiral binding with a hardcover for durability.
Greg’s best advice: Bike everyday. Even if you don’t have to go somewhere you’re sure to discover somewhere to go!
Another book, one I have mentioned in this column before, is “The Complete Guide to DuPage County Trails” written by Warrenville’s own Bill Weidner. This book lives up to its name providing the best trail reference guide I have seen for bikers and hikers. Bill’s love of nature, his love for cycling, and his own brand of humor come through on every page. It is an enjoyable, convenient and up to date trail guide for reference or just good reading. This is one you’ll want to carry in your bike bag.
Both of these excellent publications can be found at you favorite bike shop.
And remember, wherever you decide to ride, wear your helmet, and ride safely practicing all of the rules of the road, and following proper trail etiquette.
