Committee Reports:
Taylor House Update: Mary gave us an update on the Taylor House. They have
had a meeting with two architects and engineers. They went over the house with some of our Board Members and gave their ideas as to what would have to be done and what would be nice to do. They are planning on having another meeting in the next week or so and we will discuss it in more detail at a later time.

Art Along the Alley Booth:
Paper report Larry D. Mitchell Co-Chairs:Toni Bowman & Larry Mitchell. Participants: John Havran, Diane Goss, Kendall Kessler, Charlotte Chan, Toni Bowman, and Larry Mitchell. Sales about 25% of last year - $272.21. The BRAA lost money, but it was worth the public exposure. Steve Miller brought a handfull of newly printed BRAA membership forms and we gave out all but four. Our sales leader again this year was John Havran.

Holtzman Gallery:
Nancy and Jeri have been working on a place to host some
exhibits. They think Holtzman Gallery would be a good match for us. They would like to have a big kick off in the fall of 2009. The Alumni Center will host the reception. We would have a campus/ community relationship. They would like our permission to pursue the exhibits for 2009 coordinated by Mary and Charlotte. Nancy made the motion, Mary approved, motion approved.

BRAA Blog:
No report.

Blacksburg Arts and Cultural Distract:
Nancy reported on the Arts and Cultural District. The Lyric is renovating the former Kinko’s space to create an Arts District welcome center, offices and Green room. BRAA office rent would be offset by managing displays in the front window. They are in the process of putting together a list of all the organizations who might be interested in the endeavor. They will need some volunteers to staff it as well as some financial help.

Grant Writing Workshop Report:
Gene went to the grant writing workshop put on by the Community Foundation of the New River Valley. There were over 50 participants and they covered an entire semester of knowledge into one day. They covered researching on the internet, matching up compatibilities, writing the proposal, meeting the deadlines, etc.

Fall Programs: We are planning on having an Intergenerational Arts Program
this fall. Check it out on our website. The fall programs are on the web. We have several interesting ones coming up.

Fall Newsletter Deadline: Sept 10, 2008.

Toni is working on the new Membership Directory to come out in September
with the newsletter - paper copies for those who have paid for hardcopies and email for the rest.

Nancy suggested we get a group together to see if our groupings of officers are
meeting our needs or if we need a committee to work on a structure and definition of duties for the officers. Nancy will coordinate.
