These pass weeks have went by so fast. It’s hard to remember what I have been up to, but I’m going to try to tell you…..
Let’s start back at the end of National FFA Week. In the last blog, I told that I was going to my home chapter, Jefferson FFA Chapter, for their degree ceremony. I did go to their degree ceremony and spent the next day hanging out with members. While I was at my home chapter, I worked on getting a higher degree myself, because I know it’s an important step in the FFA. I traveled to Washington High School to have a cook-out with the Washington FFA members to close up their National FFA Week.
The next Friday, I went to Berkeley Co. and Jefferson Co. Ham, Bacon, and Egg Auction. Martinsburg FFA, Hedgesville FFA, Musselman FFA, and Jefferson FFA had members participate in the auction. The auction was very successful for the members. It’s a nice to see that the supporters of the FFA are still supporting the members, even though the economy is not the greatest.
That was the same cask at the State Ham, Bacon, and Egg Sale. This was my first time in Charleston!!!! Being from the Eastern Panhandle, it’s a very long drive to get to Charleston, so it wasn’t something we did growing. I was glad my first trip to Charleston was for the FFA. Now back the night of the sale, the officer team and I got to dine with Governor Joe Manchin, III and Commissioner Gus Douglass before the sale began. Buyers and Members were very excited for the show. The best part of going to the sale was when we got to hand deliver donated meat and egg to local charities.
After all of that fun, I was back at school for my last week before Spring Break. That week was really busy finishing papers and having last minute tests. After that week, it is nice to home for a long week.
Love Always,
Emma Yohn
