The week of July 27th-31st was a very eventfull week. The officer team along with Mr. Hughes picked Emma and myself up from the hotel in Washington D.C. From there we traveled to Reobuth beach in Delaware to have a good time along the shore, but the closer we got to the beach the darker the sky got. By the time we made it to the ocean, with some of us in our bathing suits, the rain started to pour down and the beach was closed, so we did what any tourists would do, ran between little shops in between rain drops, but we had a good time in doing it.
As luck goes the rain stopped 5 minutes after we got into the van and made our way to dover. This is where th point of our trip took place. We arrived in Dover late Sunday night had a quick team meeing and wnt to bed, tomorrow was going to be a busy day.
Monday was the first day we got to meet the other officer from the other states (Virginia, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware). Also, we had our first opportunity to meet to of our national officers, Morgan Parker and Becky Sullivan. The thyme for the week was DISCOVER THE RYTHM so we were introduced to our CD case nametags and our drumsticks which we opened and closed our sessions with. This week was the first time we all came together as a team since the last day of state convention.
During the course of the week we met all kinds of new friends from around our region. Teamwise we grew together and finally put our individual strengths to the test when we started to talk about our group project, Winter Leadership Conference. Also during the week we worked individually on our workshops and pesented the final product in front of one another.
During our free time, which was very little, we made a late night trip to Wa-Wa, an amazing store sort of like Sheetz, and enjoyed a Hog roast hosted by a local chapter. The very last night, the governor of Delaware appeared at dinner and discussed with us the importance of agriculture in her state. Our state had a very dramatic Reflections ceremony and then we partied it up at the final dance.
It was a great week and as officers, we are now ready to serve YOU!
