Firstly, I would like to apologize to everyone for not putting a new post up sooner but I have had a few things that have kept me from it including internet down, never home, and my computer going out on me. But I am at school now and ready to tell you bout my past month.
Ok, so this is what has went down since last time I blogged. Taylor County Livestock show, Berkeley County fair, NLCSO( National Leadership Conference for State Officers), State Fair , preparing for college, and moving in to college. I have had no time to blog or do anything else but at the same time I HAVE HAD A BLAST! So now to begin telling you all about my many adventures.
First we’ll start with Taylor County show. It was so cool. I love going to others fairs and seeing how everything works there and watching people show animals, something I hold very close to my heart. I was able to talk to many students and parents and did something I havent done since I was about 7, I got to hand out ribbons.:-) I love doing that. Even the trip there and back was fun or should I say funny. I went with my dad and we talked, laughed, and sat in silence( the man never has the radio on).
Next was the Berkeley County Youth Fair. I was there most days and helped in the office and with friends animals. I talked for hours to people about the FFA, my experiences and others, which is one of my favorite things to do. I also got my fair share of tack box sitting in on many different tack boxes. I also judged my very first show. It was the pet show and I had an incredible time. The pet show exhibitors know so much about their pets and I was very impressed. I ended the week with helping make copies and organize thing for the Livestock Sale and then watching the sale.
On August 8th I met up with the other officers and Mr. Hughes to head to Gettysburg. Now, I had just spent all week at our fair so I was exhausted. Not to mention I ran around lIke a madman trying to get everything I needed for a week done in 1 day. But it all worked out and I got in our van (Named Merve) and we headed to Gettysburg. The next five days I spent getting to know the officers better then ever. I tell you what I am so proud and honored to be serving with them. My eight fellow officers are such caring, hardworking individuals and I couldn’t be happier to work alongside them. The workshops we went to, put on by two of the national officers Regina and Riley, were a fun and very educational. It really helped our team become stronger.
Well next thing we knew we were on our way home. We dropped Beth off then continued down the road. Next stop, potty break, where some officers ,who I wont mention the names of, tried to read a map and well failed J. But then we continued and dropped off Kimmie, Scott, and Nick. Then about an hour later we were at Mr. Hughes home. Eleanor, Hillary and Andrea headed to Eleanors in order to go to State Fair the next day. Kate headed home to get ready for college, and I stayed with Lakyn to catch up on old times and get ready for State Fair.
The next day we headed down the road, after eating some great salsa compliments of Mrs. Hughes, to the Fair. We arrived around 10:30 and unloaded pigs then I met up with my dad at the hotel. The next day I spent with Andrea, Eleanor, Lakyn, Mr. Hughes, and Mr. Burdette in the Cecil Underwood building getting everything layed out and cleaned up, then we headed out on the grounds. I walked around and saw a lot of people I knew and talked to all of them. That night Andrea and I sat and talked to John Lockhart and then walked around to see the night life of the fair. Unfortunately the next day I had to head home and get ready for college but I still had tons of fun.
So I was home now where I spent the next week getting everything ready for college. It is the most exciting and yet scariest thing ever. I, like so many others, am turning to a new chapter of my story. I have no idea how its going to turn out and yet am jumping in head first. Have you ever wanted to just be able to get the Spark Notes on the story of your life? I have and yet I don’t want to know. The not knowing is what keeps pushing me on to go forward in life and see what happens.
Well, yesterday I jumped officially. Im in my dorm and so nervous. But I cant wait to get fully started. Its so exciting and I know I can do this, its not going to be easy but they never said it would be they just said it would be worth it.
Like always take care and if you need anything don’t be afraid to e-mail me at jadahostuttler@yahoo.com. Later everyone.
