National Convention was amazing!! We started off the trip with a meeting at Cedar Lakes. We were planning Winter Leadership Conference, which is going to be awesome. The next morning Beth, Kimmie, Scott, Andrea, Jada and I were crammed tight in a Tahoe (named Tiny Timmy the Tahoe) with Mr. Hughes at the wheel. It was a long trip, but we made it. We got to stay at the Westin which is a really fancy hotel and it was connected to the convention center which was very convenient. Andrea and I had a King sized bed it was like sleeping on the clouds. Not that we got to sleep very much because we had such a packed schedule.
We served as delegates throughout the week. It was a lot of work, but it paid off in the long run. We always had floor seats during the sessions. We also had the privilege of meeting Dr. Larry Case. He probably thought we were crazy because we were standing at his vehicle waiting for him to get out. We got to escort him to his press conference.
We also went to the TOBY KEITH Concert. We had so much fun. He sang all of our favorite songs including You Should’ve been a Cowboy. We sing that all the time! So when we took the scenic route around the stadium we are walking and Kimmie says that she sees Toby Keith’s truck. Well I turn around and there stand none other than Toby Keith. Well I started screaming because that’s what crazed fans do. I startled the poor guy, but he stilled said hey to us and he looked me right in the eyes!!
It was a pretty exciting convention. We had a blast and grew as a team. We met so many different people including the members from WV. I asked one boy if he had done a contest and he said yea the good looks contest. He informed me that he got GOLD in this category. I thought this was funny and it was good to see people with such a good sense of humor.
Until next time....
