H,B & E…for all of those chapter who don’t know what that it is….its the Ham, Bacon, And Eggs show/sale. So when we got there on Sunday morning we got right to work… the chapters didn’t start coming in until quarter after ten! At about 11: 45 all the pieces of meat and eggs were registered and ready to be judged. We had about 90 dozen eggs and 140 pieces of meat. What a show!!!
On Monday, that was the day that all the meat would be judged and all the state officers would be doing a lot of the manual work…YAH :) (Fake Smile)… So everything went well the Cameron FFA Chapter was a big help, they helped us set up for the sale that night after all the meat was judged and helped us put it all in order for the sale bill. Thank You Cameron….You make me proud to be from that Chapter : D you guys did some awesome work…also thank you for delivering to Kroger’s every year it means a lot. The Sale went very well we had the Third highest sale in the history of the state…Now I would say that’s pretty darn good!!! Congrats to all the winners and also to all the participants I know how much hard work you have put into your hogs or chickens!!!
Monday night before the sale we also got to have dinner with Governor Joe Manchin, that was pretty cool. I have never got to meet anyone that powerful before so it was pretty cool getting to know him and taking pictures with him. The part I liked the most was that Mr. Manchin had on heck of a good hand shake and that when he talked to you he looked you strait in the eye…he made me feel pretty important….especially since I got to stand at his front door with Kate and take names of people on the list!!! Yah : D
Now for Tuesday was a little different story, after all the members had left it was up to the State Officers, Mr. Taylor and Mr. Hughes to deliver the meat to the supporters who needed their meat dropped off different places or to local businesses. My favorite part of the whole day….well, besides parallel parking my truck, which I was pretty darn excited about…would have to be going to the Man a Meal. Dropping of the Meat to the them which DuPont bought, made me realize how much I really have. It made me feel sad for the ones who don’t have much but made me feel good for what we were doing and what we could do as a whole, Meaning the FFA, To help those in need. I mean the FFA is constantly getting support from those who can give it and why not let our working hands help those who can’t! I’m excited to see what we can do for the less fortunate…I know we will do great.
Overall the H,B & E show/sale went amazing. I do believe we have gained experiences, friendships, and knowledge that we would never had gained hadn’t we been there.
To be continued…A Day In the Life Of A West Virginia State FFA Vice President…….
