Getting ready for trips is not my best thing. I don’t like to pack till last min, or leave until the last possible min. Have you ever forgotten something like half way down the road but you cant turn around to get it because you won’t be there in time. Yep, that’s me I was on my way to pick up Nick and Scott on our way to West Union to meet Mr. Hughes and the other three officers he had already picked up along the way. Well, I was about only ten minutes from my house when I realized I had forgotten a special thing my mom had gotten me for the trip :( I couldn’t turn around to get it; because I had left three minutes later then I should have :). SOOO….I kept on truckin’ it. When I got to the Tyler County Fair Grounds where I was supposed to pick up Scott and Nick, I realized that I didn’t know where to go. They told me to meet them at Scott camper which is between the two barns. What they didn’t tell me was that there is like TEN BARNS lol ;). Then I saw Scott, sooo….I decided to drive across this field, jump a little ditch and pull up right next to him, cuz I didn’t know any other way to get there….thank god for having a truck :) when we all finally got going. My awesome field crossing ditch jumping “TRUCK” yea started missing….i figured it would be fine to get us there so I kept going. To NLCSO we went! When we got to West Union, we realized that the “park-n-ride” where we were supposed to park wasn’t actually a “Park-n-Ride” so to begin with we pulled up to a spot on the side of the road in front of this creeper van…you know the ones that kid nappers drive around. Well we sat there for a little bit waiting on the gang when we realized maybe we are not in the right spot? (but we really were) sooo…I got the smart idea to maybe drive down the highway a little bit seeing maybe if they were parked somewhere else…but they weren’t. so we just went back to the spot where we originally parked and just waited. Then all of a sudden we saw a huge coach bus and we started waving our hands and laughing cuz we knew it wasn’t them but we wished it was. Well right behind that coach bus was a 15 passenger van…another creeper van…. Yep it was them….so we all piled our stuff in and head back down the road to pick up the rest of the team…well when we were all together we were talking about the creeper van, well we all decided to name it…the name will stay with our team forever and I don’t think anyone will forget our sweet creeper van!!! We spent all day in Harpers Ferry and then stopped at Antietam Battlefield. After a long day we finally arrived in Gettysburg for NLCSO (National Leadership Conference for State Officers) We learned all kinds of stuff from Regina Holliday and Riley Branch two National Officers. By the end of the week we were all so tired and ready to get home…we had a good trip until we (me, Scott and nick) got to my truck we headed down the road fuelled up and headed toward Sistersville. My check engine light came on and the engine was missing more than ever. It ended up being the # 8 coil pack and spark plug and so the trip cost me 78. 34 :) plus gas lol….soo….To Be Continued…A Day In the Life of A Sate FFA Officer
