as with everyone else that will be writing about this past week, i will say that everything we experienced on our NLCSO trip was absolutely and nothing less than amazing...
the 9 of us officers became soooo close and have created special and unique bonds with one another that it would take a hurricane to match up to the whirlwind that combines us.
the trip started off amazing, naturally me and eleanor woke up late....i'm not saying that we didn't speed to mr.hughes' house but i wont confirm that allegation either. by the way, the stoplight in front of his house is open for running on red, we actually didnt do that either even though we looked for cops really really hard, it finally turned green after ages!! upon arrival, the lovely katelyn and her mom were there and then we left in a creeper van that later got named Merv. 15 passenger, all white, 23948398 number of windows and totally equipped with food and drinks courtesy of the people that rented it before us, thanks rental place. i loved setting beside the used ashtray....
they say getting there is the best part of a trip and whoever said that nailed it on the head! ive never seen harpers ferry and we toured the whole place. i experienced being in 3 states in 5 minutes which was an amazing feat. Also, thanks to mr. hughes for allowing me to experience the scenic route not once but two times because I guess I’ll say the “map” was wrong. His sense of direction is always rightt….haha. Arrival there, we were greeted by other state officers and throughout the whole week we participated in many workshops where we learnt a lot about our team and ourselves! Also, we all conducted successful workshops that I think this fall and spring you all will enjoy, you should definitely be looking forward to it cause we ALL are! You shall be proud to know that your state brought home the crowns of participation the first night, yeah that’s right we were the most pumped and won burger king crowns first. The crowns were given by the national officers holding this event, we were kind of a big deal.

Throughout this trip we were able to come up with nicknames, joke around and have fun, experience the exciting side of mr. hughes and perform an amazing reflections ceremony for the others. We all discovered exactly what skill we brought to the team and how we could use that. Not forgetting to mention, the dance!, where all other states were definitely envious of the WV version of the cupid shuffle dance. That’s right, no one does it like a West Virginian, so be proud of your boogeying selves.

-Andrea’s b-day was today, happy birthday andrea. I enjoyed sharing a room with you, even though you stole my covers!!! How thoughtful of you to put an extra on the bed though when I went to sleep before you and jada did.-

The trip back and coming home was greatly anticipated by everyone even though we had a good time. All of us couldn’t wait to cross the WV state line, we were homesick. We all are starting college within the next two weeks and it will be comforting to get comments and words of encouragement from all of you that may read. Honestly, everyone is very excited about the upcoming events….especially WLC! Oh yes, we have already been planning… and I am definitely planning on super shrinking my customized polo that all the officers received. Everyone’s was a little on the large side which made for great laughter but we were definitely happy to receive them!

i could have sooo much more to tell you, i don't think there would be enough room. next time i'll tell you about the nicknames and such...

If anyone ever needs anything, don’t hesitate to contact me. and ohhhh yeah , we got business cards!
