I'm blogging about Twittering. How's that for redundancy? Last night, WDBJ7, one of our local news stations, ran a story about how businesses and friends use Twitter to stay connected. Every time I run across a story along this line, I marvel at how versatile a tool Twitter can be.

The first time I witnessed a "tweet" coming in was at a trade show in New Orleans. Traffic at the show was slow and all the vendors were sharing stories about other conferences either better or worse than this one when the fellow across from me said something like, "Man, this is unreal -- I sent out a message on Twitter saying I'm at a trade show in New Orleans waiting for someone to walk by my booth, and within a few seconds, I got all these messages from friends sympathizing. One guy even suggested a bar I should go to." Uhm...instant feedback and advice.  Interesting.

My next encounter came via an invitation from friend and entrepreneur, Tom Markiewicz,  to follow him on Twitter.  I figured if Tom was using Twitter, it had to be worthwhile. Soon thereafter, I started to receive other requests from friends who see Twitter as a way to keep connected with a lot of buddies at once, and from business contacts such as Thomas Power, founder of Ecademy who recognize the impact this tool can have on growing a business.

Today, I use Twitter for the same reasons stated above. I'm just getting my both my freelance writing business and my Ebay store (QCatsBiz) off the ground. I need every tool I can put my fingertips on to help me promote both of these endeavors.
